“Sin Nombre” is a wonderful debut for Cary Joji Fukunaga – an memoir about all the harrowing obstacles that illegal immigrants from Central America face before they ever even arrive the U.S. border, if they even form it that far. You can luxuriate in this movie whatever your politics because it’s refreshingly free of preaching and lectures and messages. I’m against illegal immigration but I calm got caught up in it on an emotional level. Fukunaga simply presents a straightforward anecdote concerning Sayra, a Honduran girl about 15 y/o and Willy, a Mexican boy a miniature older, maybe 17 y/o. The viewer is left to method his or her possess personal conclusions regarding the Colossal Portray of illegal immigration and Third World poverty and colonialism and imperialism and exploitation and economics and gangs and so on. I can remember seeing a TV newsmagazine segment a few years ago on how these migrants inappropriate Mexico on the tops of cargo trains. Not inside the boxcars, but clinging to the tops of the cars. Apparently, the interiors of the cars are too hazardous because of bandits and/or rapists and murderers – both free-lance thugs and organized gangsters. At any rate, the whole scene is totally lawless. Anybody who attempts this walk is taking their life into their have hands. They’re beset upon by not only the aforementioned bandits, but also the Mexican authorities, who seem entirely unsympathetic, to set aside it mildly. At the time I thought: “What a mountainous premise for a movie!” Seems like Mr. Fukunaga agreed.

I judge the trailer gives away too grand already, so I’ll try to be careful what I say here. Willy is a member of Mara Salvatrucha and Sayra is making her plot North when their paths intersect atop a verbalize. Willy makes a moment-of-truth decision that permanently and irrevocably disrupts his life and suddenly binds the wide-eyed Sayra to his side from that instant on. Then the bound is on and it’s a gigantic one.

This movie is not only extremely graphic, but also very true-to-life and thoroughly realistic. For example, there’s a scene where an unarmed Willy is being hunted by two gunmen and I figured he would simply turn the tables on them and come by their guns. After all, Sylvester Stallone would honest laugh if it was a mere two killers after him, moral? Sylvester would then easily extinguish them both bare-handed in a few seconds, accurate? Even with his eyes closed if he wanted to. But then I realized that Willy without his acquire gun and without his gang was unbiased a timorous boy running for his life like a rabbit. At that point, I realized objective how grand this movie was and I really got into it.

Fukunaga gets uniformly elegant low-key and histrionics-free performances out of his entire cast. Not a single worn link among all of them. The two leads are clear standouts but there’s a lot of expedient work by the other actors. Lil’ Mago is absolutely terrifying; a figure straight out of a nightmare but tranquil seeming human. Martha Marlene is silly and very touching when we realize what her fate is going to be. Smiley is moral on the money – a colossal peformance by a child actor. Scarface reminds us that not all of the Mara Salvatrucha are kids; some of them actually survive into their 30’s and 40’s and so on. I contemplate the guy playing El Sol gets somewhat overlooked. His character doesn’t have Lil’ Mago’s eerie appearance but he manages to be every bit as scary impartial the same.

Also, Mr. Fukunaga clearly knows his Shakespeare. Willy has two different relationships that both echo “Romeo and Juliet” and there’s a scene at the waste that’s a original version of “Et tu, Brute? ” from “Julius Caesar”. But what I like most about him is his obstinacy. He was given a Sundance Studios green light to form a film and he came up with a Spanish language story made in Mexico with an all-Hispanic cast. Not a single gringo in scrutinize, but don’t let the sub-titles discourage you from experiencing a superior, extremely well-made, deeply racy film. Go ogle it and catch the DVD when it comes out – it’s that agreeable.

Sin Nombre has it all – colossal acting, attractive cinematography, grand themes, and fabulous realism. The realism is no accident. Young filmmaker Cary Fukunaga spent months in Mexico, interviewing both immigrants and gang members about their experiences. He shot on situation, and many cast members are nonprofessionals. For example, Edgar Flores, in the lead role as a member of the Chiapas chapter of the brutal Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang, is straight off the streets of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Despite the specific setting of the tumultuous U.S.-Mexico border, Sin Nombre addresses mighty and universal themes of damnation and redemption. At least, that’s how I saw it. In an interview, Fukunaga himself said he sees it as being about family – “the disintegration and recreation of the family unit in its current and varying forms.”

The dwelling centers around a chance and fateful encounter between gang member Willy and a 15-year-old Honduran girl, Sayra (Paulina Gaitan), who is riding north through Mexico atop a negate. Though Sayra’s tear, viewers rep an appreciation for the intense dangers faced by Central Americans trekking toward the promised land.

Without giving away anything, I can teach you a bit of background on how the film came about. Fukunaga, a native of the San Francisco Bay Station, was in film school in Current York when he read a Fresh York Times legend on a group of Mexican and Central American immigrants who died of asphyxiation and heat exhaustion while trapped and abandoned inside a refrigerated trailer. His short 2004 documentary about that case, “Victoria Para Chino,” won multiple film awards.

That project evolved into Sin Nombre, as Fukunaga explained in an IndieWire interview. Doing the research, he said, “I learned about the abominable skedaddle Central American immigrants went through in order to gather to the United States – crossing the infinitely more unsafe badlands of Mexico on top of (not in) freight trains slip for the US Border. It was like a world that belonged to the frail wild west.”

Against the advice of friends, Fukunaga gained intimacy with his topic by taking the same harrowing train-top lumber that he would film. On his first move, with 700 Central American immigrants, the narrate was attacked within three hours:

“We were somewhere in the pitch murky regions of the Chiapan country side. In the alcove of the next recount car I heard the obvious pops of gunshots, always louder than they seem in the movies, then the screams of immigrants passing the word: ‘Pandillas! Pandillas!’ (gangsters) . Everyone scattered, I could hear them running in past our tanker car. Not having any where to hurry to, I stayed on…. The next day I talked to two Hondurans who were next to the attack. They told me a Guatemalan immigrant didn’t want to give two bandits his money so they shot him and throw him under the content. [Later] I learned the police had found the body of a Guatemalan immigrant, shot and abandoned…. Nothing could have driven home the sensation of anxiety and impotence than what I had felt first hand with those immigrants.”

Fukunaga’s willingness and ability to glance through the eyes of others probably owes grand to his upbringing. Fukunaga is described in an L.A. Times article as “a wandering spirit with a Japanese father, a Swedish mother, a Chicano stepdad and an Argentine stepmom [who] can’t be reduced to the sum of his parts, ethnic or otherwise. Growing up, he shuffled from the suburbs to the country to the barrio (’Crips and Bloods, people getting shot’) to the East Bay’s hillside bourgeois enclaves. His family, he says, always has been a ‘conglomeration of individual, sort of displaced people,’ recombinations of relatives and step-relatives, blood kin and surrogate kin, parents and what he calls “pseudo-parents” who treated him like a son.”

With this background, Fukunaga was able to bewitch not only the immigrant experience, but the pathos of gang life in Central America and Mexico, with brutality and hopelessness transmitted from generation to generation. Sin Nombre doesn’t give the history or context for the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), which at 100,000-strong is widely considered one of the most fastest-growing and perilous gangs in the world. But you can net that elsewhere on the Web.

In brief, the MS-13 is an outgrowth of the 1980s war in El Salvador, which led to a massive migration of up to two million refugees into the United States. Many settled in the Ramparts location of Los Angeles, where the gang was founded. Strict U.S. immigration policies in more original years have paradoxically worsened the gang dilemma, allowing the MS-13 to fetch footholds in Central America and Mexico. The MS-13 is known for its quick-witted tattoos, but some say members are involving away from tattoos because they so brilliantly illuminate gang membership for authorities. A documentary on the MS-13, Hijos de la Guerra (Children of the War), can be previewed at hijosdelaguerra dot com.

Sin Nombre is getting universal acclaim, and richly deserves the directing and cinematography awards it garnered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

The dialogue is horrendous, the effects cheesy, the music (not the soundtrack which is substantial, but the fetch) indescribably bad. It looks like a made for TV movie.

However- I can’t halt watching it. i saw it 3 times in the theater and pre-ordered my gain copy. It entertains me. Plus, Edward is nice to observe at… oh, James too. Fancy James. To me this movie is absolutely hysterical- where it doesn’t intend to be. The scene where Edward first sees Bella in class and he looks as if he may throw up on her??? Vast! The inspect that Billy Dark and Edward exchange as they pass each other in their cars? Priceless. I esteem the baseball scene! But the crouch down and prepare to fight stance they engage at the waste… Can anybody say Power Rangers? But honest mentioning all this makes me want to perceive it again. I know it makes no sense. It impartial has that power.

I should be embarrassed to like this, but I’m not. I will notice it over and over again proudly. I will recommend it to anyone I can. Explore it and treasure it. But know that it’s abominable and know that it can’t compare to the book and that all of it’s charm is due to it’s cheesiness.

I had heard about the fantasy books by a friend when they first came out but didn’t have the time to perceive into them. By the time the movie came out, I’d nearly forgotten about the book referral, but asked my hubby to seize me as it looked like a sterling vampire romance flick. The scenery of the Pacific Northwest forests, rivers, and coastline was breathtaking and as a native to this position, it was like going out into my bear backyard which made the film that more titillating. I was so captivated by the actors portrayal of the characters (the facial expressions and emotions brought out of the characters by Retract, Kristen, Peter, Nikki, and the rest were mesmerizing) and the depth of the back-story left me desiring more! The very next day after viewing the movie in the theater – I raced to the bookstore to grab the first book. I was curved, read through all four books (plus went to the authors website to read the extra materials she had posted there) in a week. Then, mild not happy, went encourage and saw the movie several more times – IN THE THEATER, something I’ve never felt compelled to do before – because I was so drawn to the characters and the myth. This may have been written for the young adult audience but I’m 32 and a parent of four children, and level-headed found the epic to be well worth my time.

If you haven’t read the stories, I relieve you to do so. Regardless, this film will be a treasured section of your movie collection and one you’ll be certain to peep several times before you’ll feel blissful.

The is a movie of gorgeous images that taken together provide a heavenly and ironical montage of “the helpful life.” In fact, by the destroy I was reminded simultaneously of Thoreau’s statement that the mass of people live lives of calm desperation and Kierkegaard’s understanding that the natural condition of human beings is that of despair. There is no region. The movie consists of a series of loosely or unconnected scenes with itsy-bitsy or not attempt to link them. Many of the scenes are radiant. Some are disturbing. None of them are tiring,, which is noteworthy given the length of the film (166 minutes) .

The beginning is memorable, with a helicopter flying over Rome with a statue of Christ hanging underneath. A celebrity journalist, portrayed brilliantly by Marcello Mastroianni (the recent producer, Dino de Laurentiis, pulled out of the project when Fellini refused to cast Paul Newman in the lead role), is following the statue in order to write about it, but he and his team acquire distracted by women sunbathing in bikinis on a rooftop. In this and many other scenes, the stout gap between outmoded and historical symbols of meaning and novel preoccupation with mere pleasure is articulated. The overwhelming sense in the film is of the substantial triviality of these people’s lives and the loss of suitable purpose. There are only two exceptions in the film: Marcello’s discontinuance friend Steiner, whose life is a search for meaning and truth, and a young girl Marcello first meets at a restaurant where she is a food server and then sees again in the last few moments of the film. But Steiner’s search is a futile one, leading him not merely to ruin himself but his two children as well. And the young girl is not merely a symbol of innocence, but of innocence lost, not to be found again. In the last few seconds of the film, after a drunken debauch, Marcello walks to the seashore at dawn. There he sees the young girl across a watery divide. She waves to him, and tries to bawl something to him. But her words are drowned by the waves and the wind, and eventually they both smile, realizing that they he will never be able to hear what she has to say. The device that Marcello wistfully shrugs his shoulders is almost an acknowledgement that he is one of the damned. It is one of the most heartbreaking moments in fresh film, as well as one of the most poignant.

Rome itself is as prominent in this film as any of the characters, but it is not the Rome one finds in ROMAN HOLIDAY. Grand of the city looks not historic or elegant, but antiseptic, shoddily fabricated, barely reclaimed unique ruins. There are a number of frightening modernistic buildings and a number of the areas explore bleak and abandoned. This is all, of course, highly symbolic of the bleakness of the lives of the characters. Many films have discussions like this imposed on them (I consider of some of the comely parodies in episodes of Monty Python), but LA DOLCE VITA almost demands metaphysical discussion. Fellini is concerned with the fate of human beings in the novel world, with what we have all lost and what we have failed to net in its residence.

Special mention has to be made of the astounding music for the film written by the incomparable Nino Rota, and easily stands as one of the very greatest film scores ever written, as integral to the success of the film as Bernard Hermann’s scores for NORTH BY NORTHWEST or PSYCHO or Ennio Morricone’s for A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS. It is not anecdote or histrionic, but mischievous and light, almost ironic, as if to underscore the manner in which the characters whistle while Rome burns itself out.

A spectacular film, one of my favorites ever. It is arguably Fellini’s greatest film, and one of the gigantic monuments of cinema.

LA DOLCE VITA is neither unpleasant nor overrated. There is something to be said for the comely substantial number of film fans who cherish this one. It is an episodic film, but that is a feature of considerable of Fellini. In several films, Fellini builds his meaning in this way: not so considerable with a single continuing space, but with a series of smaller stories that add up to a total collection of ideas.

Maybe the secret (if there is one) of LA DOLCE VITA’s appeal is that it’s so darned appealing all the time. This especially applies to the place concerning Steiner. Steiner is the key figure in the film, apart from Marcello himself, who is Fellini’s and the viewer’s counterpart. What Steiner represents to Marcello is of prime importance. The young reporter sees the older man as a perfected, idealized version of himself. He longs to emulate Steiner and is convinced this man knows how to live life fully. There is irony aplenty in the entire Steiner legend. When Marcello brings his wife to the Steiner party, they meet a few bewitching, but mostly insufferablty pretentious ‘intellectual’ types. (the renowned Fellini ‘careless’ post-dubbing of dialogue in this scene particularly amusing: it seems to add to these characters’ disconnection from a right self, as though they don’t even realize what they are actually saying) . Steiner himself associates with these people, yet does not truly seem to be one of them. He feels trapped by his bear pretentious circle of intellectuals. When Marcello instruct him how powerful he envies and admires him, Steiner replies:

“Don’t be like me. Salvation doesn’t lie within four walls. I’m too serious to be a dilettante and too powerful a dabbler to be a professional. Even the most unfortunate life is better than a sheltered existence in an organized society where everything is calculated and perfected.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream La Dolce Vita! Click Here

This gives Marcello noteworthy to spy for the rest of the film. And Steiner’s subsequent suicide confirms the deep suspicion growing within the protagonist that all of existence, as he himself has known it thus far, is fundamentally absurd and meaningless. For this reason the film is existential in its outlook. Marcello is the novel, urban human, trapped in an absurd universe. But Fellini, seems not fully despairing in his outlook. Contemplate, for example, the significance of Marcello’s interaction with the blonde girl in the cafe–she represents a simpler life away from the city and the over-complications of new existence. Many viewers have missed the fact that it is this same girl who waves to Marcello on the beach in the film’s final scene: she waves and is telling something he is never able to hear, so he waves once, and turns befriend to the empty, inebriated crowd as they speculate about the unknowability of nature, embodied by a ugly, bloated fish.

LA DOLCE VITA is a ample film for the scheme it pulls some viewers in and forces them to witness the right insist of what they are seeing. The film’s main theme is one it shares with fims of Antonioni: fresh man has become disconnected from the natural world and he suffers because of it. LA DOLCE VITA’s visual style is poetic, some of its characters are more than compelling and hard to forget, and its musical gain by Nino Rota is among the most memorable of all time.

Every review I’ve read has been quasi-negative but not being one to listen to critics, I took a chance. I was very pleasantly surprised. Depending on why you go to a movie, you may not like this because it is not escapism. It deals with genuine life issues and things most of us can represent to. I found the movie to be very refreshing and all the characters proper to life. The main character is a single mom trying to raise a precocious son. She has to deal with a dead-end relationship and an aging father, an irresponsible sister and a job she hates. How she copes and what she does is more believable than most of the “chick flick” films out today. I believe this is one of the better movies in a sea of fluff to exercise time and money on. Amy Adams is improbable and it is always refreshing to look Alan Arkin. Please don’t dismiss this film because of iffy reviews. It is worth going to observe.

A very appetizing quirky film which is after alot more then mercurial easy laughs. This film gets magnificent serious at times and what an delectable slump it is made easier by the stellar cast. Amy Adams as Rose and her sister Norah, Emily Blunt, tend to Rose’s 7 year outmoded son, Oscar and their possess cleaning business they are starting. This is no ordinary cleaning business but a crime scene well-organized up after the bodies have been moved and evidence secured and all that remains are the blood and the remanants of the deceased’s life. What I loved about this film is the humanity of the characters, trusty people, dependable problems and right situations that have you pulling for them even as you shake your head at their mistakes. Alan Arkin is a joy as the cranky, scheming father of Rose and Norah, he is at a set as an actor that he brings so considerable of what you question from him as an actor while also bringing such subtle differences to all his characters that you never feel you’re seeing the same character you might’ve seen in another movie. Amy Adams is a intellectual revelation of eternal optimism and she has you pulling for her as she tries gain over her contain demons. Emily Blunt and Jason Spevak as Oscar are wonderfully comical and proper. There is a accurate honesty amidst some outrageously comic stuff that never panders or lectures and never cheats the audience. I only felt cheated at the ruin when the movie ended. I wasn’t ready to leave this family slow and wanted to live with them a microscopic longer. That is a estimable thing when a movie leaves you wanting more.

Here’s a movie for dog lovers, the elderly, children of divorce, FOBs (Friends of Birds), veteran Boy Scouts, people yearning for adventure, and anyone who has ever loved… and lost. Up is for everyone. It made me laugh out loud, and it made me wail.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Up! Click Here

I concept it would be tough for Up to match the emotional power of Wall-E. The two Pixar films are similar in their lack of dialogue in the first act, which helps deepen the emotional impact. Up begins with Carl, a paralyzed young boy star-struck by a renowned explorer; and kookie Ellie, who has a similar obsession. The two kids become hasty friends, and converse to one day depart to Venezuela’s Paradise Falls. After getting married, they seize their dream home and fix it up, hoping to believe it with children. Carl and Ellie’s life together from childhood through outmoded age is depicted, silently, with delicacy and subtlety. The first 15 minutes is like a celebration of a blissful marriage, and you truly feel Carl’s hurt when he is left alone. He sits slumped in his chair, talking to the house as if it is the missing Ellie.

When developers cessation in on Carl’s beloved home, he decides to fulfill his promise to Ellie and move to Paradise Falls. A used balloon vendor, Carl lifts his home with hundreds of shiny balloons. Stowing away on the porch is Russell, a beefy, doughty kid trying to derive a scouting badge.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Up! Click Here

After landing in Paradise Falls, the mature man and the shrimp boy are joined by a golden retriever named Dug who can talk with his collar, and a big rare bird that bonds with Russell (he names her “Kevin”) . Dug is priceless: spot-on for every dog that ever lived, including an obsession with squirrels. Through a series of discontinuance calls and adventures, the quartet vanquishes a villain, saving the day. And Russell earns his scouting badge.

In the process, Carl learns to let go of his gloomy mourning for Ellie, and live life again. When this happens, a truly magical thing happens. Before, Carl’s craggy face is gray and monochromatic. At the moment of his transformation, Carl’s face is awash in color, and he is surrounded by comely hues. It reminded me of The Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy steps out of her gray world and into a candy-colored Munchkinland. Carl, too, enters a whole novel world.

Up is a deeply emotional film, fat of truth. It’s the year’s best film. Regain another triumph for Pixar.

Someday, Pixar is going to do it — they’re going to originate an emotionally uninspiring, lackluster arresting movie. But in the meantime, they’re peaceful putting out scrumptious consuming movies like “Up,” which defies the usual kid-movie conventions by starring a crotchety outmoded man. It’s a charming, fun slight adventure account with flying dogs and balloon-powered houses, but underlying it is a bittersweet cramped myth about loss and appreciate.

As a child, the terrified Carl Fredricksen bonded with the oddball Ellie over their shared esteem of adventure, the explorer Charles Muntz, and Paradise Falls. They later married, travel into their “clubhouse” together, and lived a long, sadly childless life together. When Ellie died, she had never fulfilled her dream of going to Paradise Falls.

Now crotchety, alone and harassed by a right estate developer, Carl (Ed Asner) is finally ordered to a retirement home. But he isn’t going quietly — instead he attaches thousands of balloons to his house and floats it away toward South America. But he accidentally takes an interested, naive Wilderness Explorer (a thinly-veiled Boy Scout) named Russell (Jordan Nagai) along for the stir. Abominable kid was unprejudiced trying to score an “assisting the elderly” badge.

And the jungle scurry to Paradise Falls turns out to have some surprising obstacles: a great emulike bird that Russell names Kevin, a talking dog named Dug (”I am jumping on you, bird!”), and a mysterious veteran man who lives deep in the heart of the jungle. Turns out the aged guy is very familiar to Carl — and to acquire Kevin, he’s willing to sacrifice Carl and Russell.

Industry experts were babbling about how “Up” wouldn’t be as current as the previous Pixar movies, because the protagonist is basically a crusty veteran coot. Well, shows what they know. It ended up becoming one of those classic movies that somehow appeals to all ages — while the humor and action appeal to children, adults can relish Carl’s treasure for his lost wife, and his listless realization that he’s clinging to the past.

In fact, the first ten minutes are some of the most heart-tugging, quietly bittersweet scenes I’ve seen in a long time. Without a word, they present all the ups and downs of a realistic marriage — joys, sorrows (Ellie’s inability to have children), growing worn together, and finally loss.

But it’s not a depressing movie by any stretch — in fact, it’s like a childhood fantasy arrive to life, complete with a floating house suspended on hundreds of balloons, and biplanes piloted by a talking dog army.. Plenty of large dialogue (”Do you want to play a game? It’s called Ogle Who Can Go the Longest Without Saying Anything.” “Icy! My mom loves that game!”) and an action-packed climax in an used airship.

Ed Asner is absolutely perfect as ubergrouch Carl — crotchety, grumpy, and positive to fulfill his wife’s lifelong dream, but gradually realizing he’s clinging to the past. Nagai is equally perfect as Carl’s polar opposite: a naive, chattery Scout who is distinct to reunite Kevin with her baby chicks. And the utterly adorable Dug and the other dogs deserve special see. These creatures are utterly hilarious — they talk (”I hid under your porch because I esteem you”) and act the procedure dogs would if they talked. Three words: cone of shame.

The two-disc edition is going to have some very nice extras, but once again people with regular-def DVDs are going to gather shafted because the Blu-ray edition will have a bunch of strange stuff. Grr. As for this one, there’s a digital copy, the director’s audio commentary, kinda-alternate-ending “The Many Endings of Muntz,” and the documentary “Adventure Is Out There” about the research for this movie.

There are also a pair of adorable absorbing shorts. “Partly Cloudy” has a much-abused stork having to articulate potentially imperfect baby creatures from a kind but clueless cloud. And “Dug’s Special Mission” is a sort of backstory for the adorable Dug, explaining what the heck he was doing before he met up with Carl and Russell.

“Up” continues Pixar’s running tally of gloriously racy, emotionally layered movies that the entire family can indulge in. With that, I have only one more thing to say… SQUIRREL!

Any film that can pick up the family together for a fun, wholesome, and bright idea, and gain the interest of all for it’s entire length, gets 5 stars in my book. “Casper” is one of those films. It may not go down as some broad portion of cinematic art, but it is one that all generations can savor, will leave you with a smile, and something to talk about with kids afterwards.

Based on the feeble amusing book stories, “Casper” is a very grand but very lonely ghost. He lives in an stale mansion, that has seen better days. He is not alone in this mountainous house though, he lives with his three very outrageous(but droll) uncles,”Stretch”, “Stinky” and “Fatso”. Casper only wants someone to recede in,so he could have a friend, the uncles on the other hand, do their very best to fright away any visitors.

So when a greedy woman inherits the property, and believes there is a buried like inside, she hires an array of ‘ghostbusters’ to rid the house of all spirits. None seem to be able to handle this bad trio, until one day a ghost psychiatrist and his lonely daughter(also looking for a friend),depart in and try to tame the threesome. From there it’s a fun and wild lag, and a touching epic of friendship.

The film has a terrific cast that works well with the amazing animation and special effects. Bill Pullman and Christina Ricci are the father and daughter team that support these spirits. Cathy Moriarty(”Forget Paris”), and Eric Sluggish as her bumbling assistant add their talents as they go for the savor.Lots of mountainous names are cameoed throughout. Don Novello, and Dan Aykroyd reprise their roles of Father Guido Sarducci, and ghostbuster Dr. Raymond Stantz for brief appearances, honest to name a couple.

The voices including Brad Garrett as “Fatso” are top-notch, and you can never go disagreeable when James Horner scores a film with unbiased the proper touches.

It’s rated PG for some occassional still language and thematic elements, and at an hour and a half, it unbiased the moral length, and is a appetizing scheme to use some laugh out loud family time together.

Who says there are no such things as ghosts? Not if there is the ghostly inhabitants of Whipstaff Manor in Friendship, Maine!
This desolate mansion is then, in the words of one of the members of the Ghostly Trio of Whipstaff, ‘intruded’ by Kat Harvey (Christina Ricci) and her eccentric father Dr. James Harvey (Bill Pullman), a ghost therapist. Carrigan Crittenden (Cathy Moriarty) had hired Dr. Harvey to exorcise the ghosts, including Casper the proper ghost and his three execrable uncles, Stretch, Fatso and Stinkie, aspiring to win Whipstaff’s ‘buried gold’.
Intertwining humour, all-time ‘floating’ fun and a novel Cinderella memoir, ‘Casper’ promises to please as a movie which is compelling, hilarious, keen, heart-warming, witty and above all, truly ‘fleshtastic’.
‘Casper’ is recommended for any audience, regardless of age. … ‘Casper’ … manages to appear endearing and ultimately special.
The magic of Bill Pullman, Christina Ricci as well as that of director Brad Silberling, executive producer Steven Spielberg, and other producers weaves between each and every scene to eventually buy us off our feet.
Above all, I Care For THIS MOVIE! Casper is my all time favourite character. Truly fleshtastic. BOOlistic! You won’t BOOlieve it until you contemplate it.

Here’s a movie for dog lovers, the elderly, children of divorce, FOBs (Friends of Birds), outmoded Boy Scouts, people yearning for adventure, and anyone who has ever loved… and lost. Up is for everyone. It made me laugh out loud, and it made me yell.

I idea it would be tough for Up to match the emotional power of Wall-E. The two Pixar films are similar in their lack of dialogue in the first act, which helps deepen the emotional impact. Up begins with Carl, a haunted young boy star-struck by a renowned explorer; and kookie Ellie, who has a similar obsession. The two kids become snappy friends, and roar to one day go to Venezuela’s Paradise Falls. After getting married, they retract their dream home and fix it up, hoping to contain it with children. Carl and Ellie’s life together from childhood through ancient age is depicted, silently, with delicacy and subtlety. The first 15 minutes is like a celebration of a blissful marriage, and you truly feel Carl’s injure when he is left alone. He sits slumped in his chair, talking to the house as if it is the missing Ellie.

When developers conclude in on Carl’s beloved home, he decides to fulfill his promise to Ellie and fade to Paradise Falls. A used balloon vendor, Carl lifts his home with hundreds of gleaming balloons. Stowing away on the porch is Russell, a burly, doughty kid trying to come by a scouting badge.

After landing in Paradise Falls, the feeble man and the exiguous boy are joined by a golden retriever named Dug who can talk with his collar, and a immense rare bird that bonds with Russell (he names her “Kevin”) . Dug is priceless: spot-on for every dog that ever lived, including an obsession with squirrels. Through a series of halt calls and adventures, the quartet vanquishes a villain, saving the day. And Russell earns his scouting badge.

In the process, Carl learns to let go of his sunless mourning for Ellie, and live life again. When this happens, a truly magical thing happens. Before, Carl’s craggy face is gray and monochromatic. At the moment of his transformation, Carl’s face is awash in color, and he is surrounded by fair hues. It reminded me of The Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy steps out of her gray world and into a candy-colored Munchkinland. Carl, too, enters a whole modern world.

Up is a deeply emotional film, corpulent of truth. It’s the year’s best film. Fetch another triumph for Pixar.

Someday, Pixar is going to do it — they’re going to design an emotionally uninspiring, lackluster bewitching movie. But in the meantime, they’re mild putting out savory absorbing movies like “Up,” which defies the usual kid-movie conventions by starring a crotchety extinct man. It’s a charming, fun shrimp adventure fable with flying dogs and balloon-powered houses, but underlying it is a bittersweet exiguous legend about loss and like.

As a child, the alarmed Carl Fredricksen bonded with the oddball Ellie over their shared care for of adventure, the explorer Charles Muntz, and Paradise Falls. They later married, recede into their “clubhouse” together, and lived a long, sadly childless life together. When Ellie died, she had never fulfilled her dream of going to Paradise Falls.

Now crotchety, alone and harassed by a proper estate developer, Carl (Ed Asner) is finally ordered to a retirement home. But he isn’t going quietly — instead he attaches thousands of balloons to his house and floats it away toward South America. But he accidentally takes an eager, naive Wilderness Explorer (a thinly-veiled Boy Scout) named Russell (Jordan Nagai) along for the travel. Unpleasant kid was unprejudiced trying to come by an “assisting the elderly” badge.

And the jungle whisk to Paradise Falls turns out to have some surprising obstacles: a astronomical emulike bird that Russell names Kevin, a talking dog named Dug (”I am jumping on you, bird!”), and a mysterious stale man who lives deep in the heart of the jungle. Turns out the venerable guy is very familiar to Carl — and to steal Kevin, he’s willing to sacrifice Carl and Russell.
